Nagpur : To realize its commitment towards Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri.Narendra Modi’s mission of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, over 200 CREDAI member developers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CREDAI Clean City Movement Ltd. Under this MoU, the member developers will implement Solid Waste Management in-situ model at their present and future projects. The total number of homes to be covered under the MOUs signed is in excess of 2 lakh units.

The CCCM plans to cover 1 million households over the next two years 2017-19.

An initiative by the CREDAI Kerala chapter, the CCCM was set up in 2007. Today, the initiative covers more than 650 housing condominiums and 80, 000 apartments and provides employment to about 650 women belonging to the economically backward class in Kerala. A not for profit company, CCCM Ltd has

now been set up under CREDAI National for the promotion of this initiative at the national level. CCCM is a community level decentralized waste management system based on aerobic processing of waste. The technology uses Bio-Digester bins or Bio-Digester Pots to convert Municipal Solid Waste to natural fertilizer. The whole process is completed at an apartment complex or a gated community’s

basement area. This initiative was started with the objective to help builders and residents implement eco-friendly self-reliant rejection management at source and to further ensure that the properties developed by the CREDAI members implement eco-friendly scientific waste management.

The CCCM aims to first conduct waste audit for all project where the CCCM model is to be implemented and suggest appropriate solutions, to the developer, basis the findings. This will lead to the installation of the on- ground solutions in phases.

In an attempt to expand this initiative across the country, CCCM has reached out to over 200 of CREDAI’s member developers to work towards the protection of the environment. The MoUs were signed at The New India Summit organized by CREDAI. This event also witnessed the esteemed presence of Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra. CREDAI President, Mr. Jaxay Shah says “CREDAI, through its Clean City Movement, has been aligning its efforts to facilitate the Government’s Swachh Bharat Mission. We are elated that over 200 developers have signed the MOU and will be adopting the mechanism for solid waste management. We hope to get many more on board in the near future to take this initiative to even greater heights.”

CREDAI Chairman, Mr. Getamber Anand shares his view “We are very proud to announce the association of 200 more developers with our Clean City Movement initiative. We laud their efforts and commitment towards this cause. We hope to expand our initiative to at least 30 cities in the next two years, with an aim of increasing the outreach of the program to all parts of the country in the future.”
