The historian Indrajit Sawant has demanded the DNA testing of the bones of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. They have demanded that Shivaji Maharaj should get a full stopover of many misunderstandings in the society.

Sawant has written a letter to state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Shivaji Maharaj died in 1680. Maharaj's Samadhi on Raigad, capital of Swarajya, is said to be his bone. This is the same thing as that of Inderjit Sawant. According to the official records, during Shivaji Maharaj's bone during the restoration of the Raigad in 1926-27, he had received the bones. Sawant claimed that this place had been preserved at the shrine of Lord Shiva. However, some of the researchers say that there is no historical and factual proof of the flow of Shiva's bone on Raigad.

There is a question that Shivaji Maharaj was poisoned. A theory was also proposed that after the demise of Shivaji Maharaj, his dog also took a plunge in his mind. However, it is unacceptable to Maratha organizations including Sawant. Moreover, there are some more myths and misconceptions. Sawant has demanded a DNA test for all this to happen.
