Tirpude Institute of Management Education, Central India’s leading management education college, has built a strong tradition of creating bright opportunities for its students every year. As a part of an endeavour to expose its MBA students to industry practices and situations, the institute recently held a Tirpude’s industry Readiness Exercise (TiRE) for its semester-III students, on 23 rd and 24 th August. The exercise was an all-encompassing one and the opening day, 20 th August, started with expert sessions by Mr. Bharat Parekh and Mr. Sanjay Nath on ‘Success Mantra’ and ‘Corporate Etiquettes’ respectively. The experts narrated their journey toward success in chosen fields and also gave tips to students for their future success. The opening day also saw a unique programme on dining etiquettes, where students were not only instructed on use of cutlery and dining manners but were also made to practice these at a special brunch organized on the occasion, that had a wide array of preparations for them to relish.

The programme was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Vishal Agrawal, MD, Plasto Group of Companies. Present on the dais were Dr. Lalit Khullar, Director, TIME and Prof. Prasanna Shembekar. Subsequent sessions of the TiRE programme were held on 23 rd and 24 th and included training and actual practice on effective grooming for corporate culture. Dr. Lalit Khullar, Director, TIME, conducted this session for boys and Ms. Ekta Chawla, Freelancer, conducted the same for girls. The most important component of this entire TiRE exercise consists of skills required for group discussions and personal interviews, so as to become ‘job
ready’ for selection in business organizations; as such, numerous practical sessions on group discussions and mock interviews were conducted during these two days. TiRE also included training on various report writing skills, emailing etiquettes, managing social media profiles, tips on group discussions & personal interviews and conducting/participating in meetings.

The session on 24 th was started with one on ‘Express to Impress’ by Ms. Beena Mathew and the students were then taken through a series of videos demonstrating positive skills of group discussion and personal interview. The same day, Ms. Swaima Ahmed, Freelancer, also enlightened the students on ‘Managing Social Media’ and how to effectively utilize it to their advantage from professional point of view. Student groups were formed for effective conduct of the entire exercise. A noteworthy feature was that the institute invited corporate managers from diverse industry sectors to conduct these group discussions and personal interviews, thereby giving the students a perfect feel of what quality the industry demands from management graduates.

Student-wise feedback for improvement was also provided, in a structured format, at the end of each session by the visiting dignitaries from industry, who numbered more than 60. Some of them are Deepesh Ajmera (MD, Ajmera Tyres), Abhijeet Pagade (Wockhardt), Utsavi Deepak (Caldery’s), Snehashish Dey (Godrej Securities), Mr. Aston & Neelesh Khanzode (ADCC Infotech), Sukhada Choudhary-Digital Marketing Expert, Rohan Jain (Amul), Rishi Ramchandani
(TCS), Pradeep Trivedi (HDFC Sales), Dr. Russel Lawrie, Alhad Sadachar (Brainhunt), Neha Taori (Anand Rathi), Samiksha Shukla (Artefact), Mohammad Safwan (Alexis Hospital), Kaustubh Paunikar (Sula Wines), Manish Khanchandani (Khichdiwala) and many more. Some corporate executives even made job offers to students who performed exceedingly well in this TiRE exercise and also gave their feedback to students on areas requiring improvement in order to prepare themselves even better. The entire programme was coordinated by Prof. Prasanna Shembekar, Prof. Prerna Kothari and Prof. Rohan Job.
