Nagpur : CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) has organized a Science & Technology CSIR Mega Exhibition in the Institute situated at Wardha Road, Nagpur during 28th-30th August, 2017. Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri Ajay Sancheti inaugurated this exhibition. Shri Sancheti glanced the exhibits and appreciated the contributions of CSIR. Dr. H.J. Purohit and Dr. J.S. Pandey, Senior Most Scientists of CSIR-NEERI were also present on this occasion.

On first day, the exhibition received overwhelming response of visitors as a total of over 1200 visitors comprising of students, college and university faculty members, entrepreneurs and general public visited the exhibition and witnessed the demonstration of diverse technologies developed under one roof of CSIR.

The technologies such as hollow fibre membrane technology for water purification, solar electrolytic defluoridation technology, phytorid sewage treatment technology, low-cost automatic mechanical urinal toilet flusher, domestic water defluoridation units for rural areas, promising medicinal and aromatic plants, conversion of waste plastics to automotive fuel and petrochemicals, phytopharmaceuticals, and skill development initiatives taken by CSIR attracted most of the visitors including entrepreneurs. The students of 30 schools and colleges from Nagpur and Vidarbha visited the exhibition and interacted with the scientists.

Two popular science lectures were also organised in the NEERI Auditorium for students. Dr. N.K. Labhsetwar, Sr. Principal Scientist & Head, Energy and Resource Management, CSIR-NEERI delivered the lecture on ‘Can you contribute towards reducing GHG emissions and global warming? and Dr. (Mrs.) V.V. Khaparde, Scientist, Air Pollution Control Division, CSIR-NEERI on ‘Air pollution: Issues and concerns’. The students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ajni and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ambajhari also visited the exhibition, participated in the popular science lectures and interacted with the scientists.
