Nagpur : The pace of modernization and development has resulted in ever widening the city limits are and also increase in the incidences of accidents of all types. The affected person is far away from his home to earn a living and in such condition if something adverse happens, his life and well-being depends entirely on the generosity and suitable first aid medical action taken by a stranger. Accidents are not only “road- accidents” but other types as well, heart attack for example. A study revealed that although 70% heart attacks strike the person when he is at home but only 50-55% get proper medical attention. Further, when the heart attack strikes a person when he is away from home, in 90% cases, he don’t get a CPR and thus in such cases death is evident.

The study also underlined that during first few minutes after the heart attack if a

proper CPR is given the chances of being safe are maximum. Such is the  immense importance of the CPR. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation is a lifesaving technique. It aims to keep blood and oxygen flowing through the body when a person’s heartbeat and breathing have stopped. It involves external chest compressions and rescue breathing. CPR performed within the first six minutes of the heart stopping can keep someone alive until medical help arrives.
