Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences 6th Infection Control Conclave with VAMM CME on Infection Control concluded on successful note!

With the theme “Sharing Knowledge and improving Care” Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur in association with Vidarbha Association of Medical Microbiologists (VAMM) is   holding the  6th Infection Control Conclave  from 5th to 10th of March, 2018.  Saturday 10th March, 2018 Continuing Medical Education Programme (CME) in association with Vidarbha Association of Medical Microbiologists (VAMM) was organized between 8.30am to 5.00pm. At Hotel Centre point Nagpur. Over 400 delegates Doctors and Nursing and paramedical staff took benefit of the CME Dr, Shivnarayan Acharya, Kidney Specialist and Transplant Consultant, spoke on Infection control in Haemo-dialysis Unit. All relevant awareness of handling by the entire dialysis team and safety measures to be adhered to, was mentioned by him looking at the decreased immunological status of the patients. Mr. R. Satish spoke on how to design a Central Sterile Services Department, which is an integrated place in hospitals and other health care facilities that perform sterilization Dr. Ashwini Tayade highlighted importance of vaccination of health
care workers, to protect themselves and their patients alike. Dr. Maithili Kavathekar of Sahyadri Hospitals Pune spoke on “Sterilization and Disinfection “ Dr. Aruna Poojary guided on “Infection control in Operating Room – what is appropriate in Indian setup.” Dr. Kirti Sabnis underlined “Antimicrobial Stewardship – Need of the
Time” as more germs are becoming drug resistant.

A panel discussion on “Surgical site Infection & Operation Room related issues” was moderated by Dr. Madhuri Deshmukh.  Dr. Ashwini Tayade, Dr. Sameer Paltewar and Subodh Gupta were the panelist who debated established practices, newer trends, cost effectiveness and other issues etc.  The CME was formally inaugurated by Dr. Bhagat from Koradi Thermal Power Station. Dr. Pinak Dande MD of Dande Hospitals and member of Clinical Establishment Committee Govt. of Maharashtra was Guest of Honour. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Sharmila Raut, President VAMM, Dr. Sharfaraz Ahmed. Secretary VAMM. Dr.Satish Singh. The institutes’ sisters also presented a ballet dance on related topics such as hand hygiene, bio medical waste disposal and bio hazards. It was highly appreciated by the audience.

 In the post lunch session topics such as “Environment Cleaning - Learn the Basics” ( Dr. Maithili Kavathekar) “ Reuse of Single Use Devices – How to implement practice” ( Dr. Aruna Poojary) “ Common Misconception in Infection Control (Dr. Kirti Sabnis) “ Film Array – Role in Infection Control”( Dr. Aruna Poojary) came for discussion. A panel discussion on “Nosocomial Infection and Health Care associated Infection was moderated by Dr. Deepak Jeswani.  Dr. Anuradha Deshmukh,
Dr. Atul Rajkondawar, Dr. Jayesh Timane, Dr. Girish Deshpande were the panel members. The CME concluded with Certificate and Prize Distribution Ceremony
Poster Competition Prize went to 1st Manmeet Kaur of LMC, 2nd Manisha Manvi & 3rd Asha Karade both of Meditrina. In Rangoli competition, 1st prize went to Dr. Monica of Meditrina, 2nd to Kalyani Nerkar of VIIMS and Sarika Topre of Meditrina & 3rd went to Viswajit Khobragade of Child Hospital. In Fancy dress competition 1st Prize went to Kishor of Meditrina, 2nd to Sunita Pandhare and Vanita Kakde tie breaker. Model Making Dr. Monika of Meditrina 1st, Rekha Wandeskar of CIIMS Hospital, and 3rd o Jyoti Itople and Pooja Barmate of Meditrina. Valedictory function was held at the hands of CMD Dr. Sameer Paltewar, Chief Neurological Surgeon of Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, who felicitated various committee members of their immense contribution and dedication to make the event memorable and successful. Dr. Anjali Raut and Dr. Aashish Anwikar were Masters of Ceremony. Dr. Shamim proposed the vote of Thanks. Dr. Ashwini Tayade
made concluding remarks.

 Tomorrow, Sunday 11th March, 2018, at 8 a.m. Nagpur Guardian Minister Hon. Chandrashekhar Bawankule will flag of Antibiotic Awareness Two wheelers and Four Wheelers Rally from RBI Square to Meditrina Hospital to conclude the conclave.
